Hello Class Parents,

It's Yearbook time!  Every year the 5th Grade parents design the Yearbooks,  Traditionally the Class Parents design the actual Classroom Photo Page that includes a photo of each student and the teacher(s) with whatever creative design you come up with!  Most Yearbooks have a theme and that often helps give you a creative direction or the students can have a strong influence, obviously.

Many of you are already familiar with designing these pages and have already done this or know the routine of finding that artistic parent in the classroom that is happy to design your page.

We have a different layout this year than in the past. Previously parents would take candid photos or they could always use the class photo taken on Picture Day in the fall.  Due to Covid this year, there was no group photo so you will not have that image to work with.  Instead, our Yearbook will have a more traditional look with a clear profile photo of each child on one page with a completely blank page on the other side for the Class Parent to design.

If you do have candid photos from the school year, this is a great time to incorporate candid into your design.  If that is not possible, that's fine too! Either way, we would love to have any candids parents have taken this school year.  It will probably be helpful to send an email out to all your parents asking if they've taken any great pictures, and your teacher usually has some also.  There may even be some they have already sent you through Class Dojo for example.

Specs for the class page:

8.5 x 11 with just under .25 inch bleed on all 4 sides.

The image needs to be a high-resolution jpeg, png or pdf 300 dpi

If you need a little inspiration, we've thought of some questions that could get the ball rolling for you.

~ What are some super things about this school year?

~ What does PS 116 mean to you?

~ Tell us how your teacher is a Super Hero!

~ What are YOUR (students') Super Powers?!

~ What are some of your favorite things about living in Gotham?

Remember, you can always go with the Yearbook theme, tap an artistic parent to take on the task, or even let the students loose on the project!  The theme this year is Comics/Superheros.
